Mean Wind Velocity Distribution at Near-ground Level Obtained Through Field Measurements

Mean wind velocity profiles enable researchers to conduct efficient and accurate analyses of a wide variety urban microclimatic problems, such as pollution dispersion, heat island effect pedestrian comfort. However, due the heterogeneity in complex context, profile at near-ground level within real context remains insufficiently investigated. The present study aims measure mean an industrial park. To this practical end, sonic anemometer was equipped height adjustable bar on mobile measurement platform. Through adjusting anemometer’s height, velocities different heights were measured. Results indicate that velocities’ variation along measured site exposed open flat upwind areas can be reasonably captured by power-law profile, while other two conventional profiles, i.e. log-law exponential show levels inaccuracy.
